UK Soaps This Week, 28 September–2 October: Football Tuesday and Fifteen Episodes
The gist: fifteen soap episodes this week, two fewer than last week, because Tuesday's football takes out the ITV hour. Hollyoaks runs Monday to Wednesday, EastEnders Monday to Thursday, and Emmerdale and Coronation Street four nights each.

Coronation Street is the one with the most carried over from last week. Friday ended with Debbie finding Eva unconscious, and Monday opens with Carl under suspicion at the pub. By Wednesday the police want to talk to him about the attack on Eva, so Monday is the first step of a three-episode run.
Anyone streaming can watch the lot before lunch. EastEnders is on iPlayer from 6am, and Hollyoaks, Emmerdale and Coronation Street are all up from 7am. Our night-by-night soap grid shows the normal weekly shape if you want a reminder.
Why are Emmerdale and Coronation Street off on Tuesday?
Football. ITV1's own guide for Tuesday 29 September has UEFA Nations League coverage from 7pm to 10.05pm, which covers the whole 8pm to 9pm soap hour. Neither soap is moved to another night or another channel; both simply skip Tuesday, and the episode numbers carry on from 179 on Wednesday.
The BBC and E4 soaps are unaffected. Hollyoaks is at 7pm on E4 as normal and EastEnders is at 7.30pm on BBC One. We've kept a running list of every autumn clash in why Corrie isn't on football nights, and the next one after this is Tuesday 6 October.
What happens in EastEnders this week?
Four episodes, 154 to 157, at 7.30pm Monday to Thursday. Two threads run through the BBC's billings for the whole week: Suki's digging and Nicola's money trouble.
Suki starts asking questions on Monday, Eve tries to rein her in on Tuesday, and by Wednesday the billing says Suki has been outmanoeuvred. Nicola's setback on Monday becomes a family effort on Wednesday, when the Hawkins rally round, and by Thursday she's running out of options. Tuesday also has Nugget's 18th at Harry's Barn and Amy lashing out at the people closest to her.
Thursday's billing mentions a secret that could come out, without saying whose. Every episode lands on iPlayer at 6am, thirteen and a half hours before BBC One shows it. The EastEnders guide covers iPlayer and the Friday gap.
What's on Hollyoaks this week?
Episodes 115, 116 and 117 of Series 32, at 7pm on E4 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday is parents' evening at Hollyoaks High, which Channel 4 bills as tears, squabbles and shocks, with Warren furious at Mercedes. On Wednesday, Ant worries about his future with Kathleen-Angel and Sienna finds something disturbing.
Look out for the early-morning repeats on E4 on Monday: the 6am and 6.30am showings are last week's episodes 113 and 114, not the new one. Episode 115 is the 7pm showing. Our Hollyoaks guide explains the three-night week.
What's on Emmerdale and Coronation Street after the football?
Three more nights each, Wednesday to Friday at 8pm and 8.30pm. In Emmerdale, Graham tries to undo a decision and Sadie has to cover her tracks on Wednesday. Thursday's billing gives Kim a goodbye, and on Friday Charity's trial date is set and there's sadness at Home Farm.
Coronation Street's Carl story comes to a head. The police question him about Eva on Wednesday, and on Thursday the person who attacked Eva owns up. Running alongside it all week is Jodie, who goes after Doug's medication on Thursday and is enjoying his paranoia by Friday.

How does fifteen compare with last week?
Last week had seventeen: three Hollyoaks, four EastEnders, and five each for the ITV pair. This week the BBC and E4 numbers are the same, and Emmerdale and Coronation Street drop to four each because of Tuesday.
That leaves ITV1 with two hours of soap across the week instead of two and a half. It's the same shape as the week of 14 September, when a midweek cup match also took out a night, and our schedule for that week shows how the numbers fell then.
When do this week's episodes reach streaming?
On the morning of broadcast, every day. EastEnders goes up on iPlayer at 6am, and ITVX has Emmerdale and Coronation Street from 7am. Channel 4 puts Hollyoaks up at 7am on its three days.
