Tomorrow's Soaps, Friday 18 September: Emmerdale 8pm and Corrie 8.30pm, No EastEnders

Quick answer: two soaps tomorrow, both on ITV1, back to back from 8pm. No EastEnders, no Hollyoaks — Friday is the one night of the week when the BBC and E4 both sit it out.
What soaps are on tomorrow, Friday 18 September?
| Time | Soap | Channel | Episode |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7am | Emmerdale | ITVX | Series 55, Ep 172 |
| 7am | Coronation Street | ITVX | Series 67, Ep 172 |
| 8pm | Emmerdale | ITV1 | Series 55, Ep 172 |
| 8.30pm | Coronation Street | ITV1 | Series 67, Ep 172 |
Sixty minutes of soap rather than tonight's ninety, and one channel rather than two. Here is a small coincidence for the collectors: both ITV soaps land on episode 172 of their own series count on the same evening. The rest of the week is laid out in this week's soap running order.
What's on Emmerdale tomorrow?
Sadie drops a bombshell and has a hostile run-in with Kim, and Lewis is upset by an answer, going by ITV's billing for episode 172.
That closes a four-episode week for the village. Emmerdale ran on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and lost Wednesday to the football, so Friday is the fourth rather than the fifth. The 7am ITVX drop and the 8pm slot are explained in our Corrie and Emmerdale times guide.
What happens in Coronation Street tomorrow?
ITV has not put a synopsis on episode 172 yet, so we are not going to describe scenes that have not been billed. What is confirmed is the slot: 8.30pm on ITV1, straight after Emmerdale, with the episode on ITVX from 7am.
Corrie has had the steadier fortnight of the two. It kept its Monday, Tuesday and Thursday episodes and, like Emmerdale, skipped only Wednesday — the reason is set out in our piece on the Wednesday cup tie.

Is EastEnders on Friday?
No. BBC One runs it Monday to Thursday, so tonight's episode 149 closed its week and the next one is Monday. BBC One fills the evening with The One Show at 7pm, The Travelling Auctioneers at 7.30pm and the Celebrity MasterChef final at 8pm.
Anyone catching up has until Monday to use the 6am iPlayer drops. Our EastEnders viewing guide covers the four-night week and the omnibus question, and the recent nights sit on the EastEnders page.
Is Hollyoaks on Friday?
No, and it has not been for some time. E4 runs it Monday to Wednesday, so Thursday and Friday are blank by design rather than by schedule change. The three-night week and the 7am Channel 4 drop are in our Hollyoaks guide.
What happened on the soaps tonight?
EastEnders ran at 7.30pm with Kat making a discovery, Oscar torn between his head and his heart, and the Brannings and the Panesars coming together for Penny and Vinny. On ITV1, Charles tried to comfort a grieving Nicola in Emmerdale and Billy confronted Joe over the private funeral plans.
Tonight's full running order is in Wednesday evening's preview and Thursday's soap times. Quiz viewers had their own Thursday — our sister site covered the teatime quiz run.
