Short version: Yes, both soaps are on ITV1 on Sunday 11 October: Emmerdale at 8pm, Coronation Street at 8.30pm. They're new episodes, not repeats. The pair replaces the night that football took on Tuesday 6 October.

Why are Emmerdale and Coronation Street on a Sunday?

Because Tuesday went to England. ITV1 carried England v Czech Republic in the UEFA Nations League from 7pm to 10.05pm on Tuesday 6 October, and neither soap aired. Digital Spy reported on 1 October that the lost pair would go out on Sunday 11 October in the usual slots.

ITV's own guide agrees. We read it on Friday 9 October and the table above is its Sunday evening, line for line. We haven't seen an ITV press release about the move, so the listings are the confirmation here. Our earlier write-up of the blank night is why Corrie wasn't on Tuesday 6 October.

Are the Sunday episodes new?

Yes. TVmaze numbers both soaps the same way across the week: episode 182 on Monday 5 October, then 183, 184 and 185 from Wednesday to Friday, and 186 on Sunday 11 October. Monday 12 October is 187.

So the count comes back to five episodes of each soap between Monday 5 and Sunday 11 October. Miss Sunday and you'll be one behind when Monday's starts.

Will the Sunday episodes be on ITVX at 7am?

That's how they're listed. On a normal weekday each episode reaches ITVX at 7am and airs on ITV1 that evening, and TVmaze files both Sunday episodes for 7am on 11 October too. ITV's guide only shows the channel times, so we're treating the 7am release as listed, not promised. The ITVX times guide explains the morning release.

Does the football on Sunday 11 October get in the way?

No. ITV1 does have a match that day, Southampton v Portsmouth in the Championship, but it kicks off at noon. ITV's guide has the coverage from 11.30am to 2.25pm, more than five hours before Emmerdale.

Are Emmerdale and Corrie on as normal on Friday 9 and Monday 12 October?

Both nights have them at 8pm and 8.30pm in ITV's guide. On Friday 9 October they follow the Women's World Cup play-off between Greece and England, which kicks off at 5.30pm with coverage listed until 7.50pm. If that coverage runs late, the soaps could start late.

The regular hour is covered in what time Emmerdale is on and what time Coronation Street is on.

Is EastEnders on Sunday 11 October as well?

No. BBC One's Sunday schedule has the Strictly Come Dancing results at 7.10pm and Antiques Roadshow at 8pm, with no EastEnders. It's back on Monday 12 October at 7.30pm, as our EastEnders guide sets out.
