Why Isn't Emmerdale On Tuesday? England's Match Takes ITV1, and Corrie Is Off Too
The gist: Emmerdale and Coronation Street are not on ITV1 on Tuesday 29 September. England's UEFA Nations League match away to the Czech Republic takes the evening. Nothing is lost, and both soaps are back on Wednesday.

Why isn't Emmerdale on tonight?
Live football has the whole ITV1 evening. The match coverage runs from 7pm until 10.05pm, which swallows Emmerdale's 8pm slot and Corrie's 8.30pm slot in one go.
We checked it three ways. ITV's own TV guide for the day lists the Nations League where both soaps would sit. TVmaze's UK schedule has Emmerdale and Corrie episodes on Monday and Wednesday, with a gap on Tuesday. Live Football on TV lists Czech Republic v England at 7.45pm on ITV1, STV and ITVX.
Is an Emmerdale episode being skipped?
No. The episode count just pauses. TVmaze numbers Monday's Emmerdale as episode 178 and Wednesday's as 179, and Coronation Street follows the same pattern. So the week has four episodes of each rather than five, and the story picks up exactly where Monday left it.

Is there an Emmerdale episode on ITVX this morning?
Not on Tuesday. New episodes normally land on ITVX at 7am on the day they go out on ITV1. With no ITV1 episode on Tuesday, there's no Tuesday drop either. When are Emmerdale and Coronation Street back?
Wednesday 30 September. ITV's guide has Emmerdale at 8pm and Coronation Street at 8.30pm, with Tipping Point: Best Ever Finals in front of them at 7.30pm. Thursday and Friday look normal as well.

Will this happen again next week?
Probably. England play the return fixture against the Czech Republic on Tuesday 6 October, again at 7.45pm on ITV1. ITV hasn't published that day's guide yet, so we can't confirm the soap slots, but the pattern points the same way. Saturday's match against Croatia at 5pm doesn't touch the soaps, since neither airs at weekends.
